Hi, and welcome!

My name is Ty, and I am a Lecturer with the Centre for Education and Computing (CEMC) and an Adjunct Professor in the Pure Mathematics department at the University of Waterloo.

My research interests are in mapping class groups (big and small!), ordered groups, and low-dimensional topology. See my maths page for more. If you would like to know more, please get in contact or drop by my office!

I am a regular contributer to CEMC's Problem of the month.

I am the principal enigmatologist for this year's edition of Key Clues.

Some shameless self promotion:

My 3 Minute Thesis entry from the 2017 UWaterloo finals.
My 2017 TEDxUofTSalon talk.
An interview with PIMS (Feb 2019).

My CV, my research statement, and my teaching statement.
